Tommy Bolin was an American guitarist and singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the 1970s with his unique blend of rock, funk, and jazz. Born on March 31, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, Bolin's early music career saw him backing up artists such as Jimmy Barnes and Zephyr before forming his own band, The Electric Church.

Bolin's most notable work came with the bands Zephyr, where he played alongside fellow guitarist Alvin Taylor, and later with Billy Cobham, with whom he formed the jazz-rock fusion group Cobham-Bolin-Rice. This latter collaboration produced several critically acclaimed albums and showcased Bolin's impressive guitar skills.

In his short but illustrious career, Tommy Bolin released four solo albums, including the highly praised Private Eyes. His unique blend of rock, funk, and jazz influences has made him a cult favorite among music enthusiasts, with many considering him one of the most underrated guitarists in rock history.
