America is an American folk rock band that was formed in 1970. The group's music style blends elements of folk, rock, and country, with a focus on harmony-rich vocal arrangements and acoustic instrumentation. America's debut album, also titled "America," was released in 1972 and featured the hit single "A Horse with No Name."
Throughout their career, America has undergone several lineup changes, but the core membership of Gerry Beckley, Dan Peek, and Dewey Bunnell has remained consistent. The band's music often deals with themes of love, nature, and social commentary, and they have been praised for their thoughtful and introspective songwriting.
America has released numerous albums over the years, including "Homecoming," "View from the Ground," and "Horsefeathers." They continue to tour and record music to this day, with their most recent album, "Lost and Found," being released in 2011. Despite facing ups and downs throughout their career, America remains a beloved and respected act in the world of popular music.
