Formed in 1987 by Chris Reifert and Joe Wood, Autopsy was one of the pioneers of the death metal genre. Their unique blend of brutality, groove, and darkness set them apart from other bands at the time. With a sound that was both heavy and atmospheric, they quickly gained a following among fans of extreme music.
Throughout their career, Autopsy released several influential albums, including "Severed Survival", "Mental Funeral", and "Shitfun". These records showcased the band's ability to create complex, yet catchy, riffs and lyrics that delved into themes of mortality, decay, and the human condition. Despite disbanding in 1994, Autopsy's impact on the metal scene continues to be felt, with many considering them one of the most important death metal bands of all time.
