David Jon Gilmour (born March 6, 1946) is a British musician and singer-songwriter who has been the guitarist and vocalist of the legendary rock band Pink Floyd for over four decades. As a key member of Pink Floyd, Gilmour has written some of the band's most iconic songs, including "Comfortably Numb" and "Wish You Were Here". His soaring guitar solos and distinctive vocal style have become synonymous with the Pink Floyd sound.

Gilmour's solo career has also been marked by critical acclaim and commercial success. His 1978 debut album David Gilmour featured the hit single "Blue Light", while his subsequent albums, including About Face (1984) and On an Island (2006), have showcased his continued evolution as a songwriter and musician.
