Dean Martin was an American singer, songwriter, and actor who was one of the most popular entertainers of the 20th century. Born Dino Paul Crocetti on June 17, 1917, in Steubenville, Ohio, he began his career as a musician in the 1940s, singing with the Lombard Records vocal group called The Big Beats.
Martin's smooth and velvety voice, coupled with his charming stage presence, quickly made him a favorite among audiences. He was one of the most successful singers of all time, releasing over 100 albums and selling more than 90 million records worldwide. Martin also had a successful acting career, starring in numerous films and television shows, including the classic TV show "The Dean Martin Show".
In addition to his music and acting, Martin was known for his Rat Pack, a group of entertainers that included Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. The group became famous for their Las Vegas shows, which often featured Martin's quick wit and playful banter with the other members. Throughout his career, Martin received numerous awards and accolades, including three Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
