Alex Harvey was a Scottish musician and songwriter best known as the lead singer of the rock band The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (SAHB). Born on December 2, 1935, in Memel, Lithuania, Harvey's family emigrated to Scotland when he was just three years old. He began his music career in the early 1960s, playing guitar and singing with various bands before forming SAHB in the late 1960s.
SAHB's unique blend of rock, roll, and theatricality quickly gained them a loyal following in the UK and beyond. Harvey's powerful voice and charismatic stage presence were key to their success, as was his knack for crafting catchy, memorable songs. Some of SAHB's most popular hits include "Faith Healer," "The Judgement of Solomon," and "Tomorrow Belongs to Me."
Alex Harvey passed away on February 4, 1982, at the age of 46, but his legacy as a pioneering rock musician and songwriter continues to be celebrated by fans around the world. Despite his untimely passing, Harvey's music remains timeless and relevant, with many of SAHB's albums still widely listened to today.
