Arthur Lee was an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the leader of the psychedelic rock band Love. Born on March 7, 1941, in Memphis, Tennessee, Lee's music career spanned over four decades, during which he released numerous albums and singles with Love and as a solo artist.

Lee's music was characterized by its dreamy, melodic quality, often featuring lush harmonies and intricate guitar work. His songwriting style was deeply influenced by his experiences growing up in the American South, and his lyrics frequently touched on themes of love, spirituality, and social commentary. As a member of Love, Lee co-wrote many of the band's hit songs, including "Alma Himes," "Orange Skies," and "You Set My Soul on Fire."

In addition to his work with Love, Lee released several solo albums throughout his career, often exploring different musical styles and genres. His 1974 album Arthur Lee & The Lemon Pipers, for example, featured a more pop-oriented sound, while his later work often incorporated elements of gospel and R&B.
