The Atlanta Rhythm Section was an American rock band that formed in 1970 and rose to fame with their Southern rock sound, blending country, blues, and hard rock elements. The group's original lineup included Barry Dunaway (bass), Dean Knight (keyboards, saxophone), J.R. Cobb (guitar, keyboards), Paul Goddard (bass), and Robert Nix (drums).

Atlanta Rhythm Section released several successful albums throughout the 1970s, including Southern Playbook, Apartment, and Underground. Their music often featured catchy hooks, memorable guitar riffs, and the distinctive vocals of lead singer Ronnie Hammond. The band's biggest hit came with their 1976 single "Imagination," which reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In addition to their studio work, Atlanta Rhythm Section was also a formidable live act, known for their high-energy performances and tight musicianship. Despite some lineup changes over the years, the band maintained a loyal fan base throughout their career, which came to an end in the early 1980s. Although they disbanded as a group, individual members went on to pursue successful solo careers and collaborations with other notable artists.
