Belinda Carlisle is an American singer-songwriter and musician best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band The Go-Go's, one of the most successful all-female rock bands in history. Born on August 1, 1951, in Hollywood, California, Carlisle began her music career in the late 1970s as a member of the punk rock band The Runaways, alongside Joan Jett and Lita Ford.

In 1981, Carlisle co-founded The Go-Go's with Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock, and Kathy Valentine. The band's unique blend of pop-punk and power-pop earned them a loyal fan base and critical acclaim, including the hit singles "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed." Carlisle's powerful vocals and distinctive songwriting style helped shape the band's sound and contributed to their enduring success.

After The Go-Go's disbanded in 1985, Carlisle pursued a successful solo career, releasing her debut album Bio in 1986. The album featured the hit singles "Heaven Is a Halfpipe" and "Leave a Light On." Throughout her career, Carlisle has been recognized for her contributions to music, including being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Go-Go's in 2020.
