Bo Diddley, born Ellas Otha Bates (December 30, 1928 - June 2, 2008), was an American rhythm and blues singer, songwriter, guitarist, and musician. Born in McComb, Mississippi, he moved to Chicago, Illinois as a teenager, where he developed his signature "shave-and-a-haircut" beat.

Bo Diddley's music career spanned over six decades, during which time he released numerous albums and singles. His unique blend of blues, rock 'n' roll, and Latin rhythms has influenced many famous musicians, including Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

Bo Diddley's most famous song is probably "Bo Diddley", which he wrote and recorded in 1955. The song features his distinctive square-shaped guitar and has been covered by numerous artists, including The Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, and George Thorogood. Bo Diddley continued to tour and record music until his death in 2008.
