Don Williams was an American country music singer and songwriter known for his smooth, baritone voice and hits like "Tulsa Time" and "Amanda." Born on May 27, 1939, in Floydada, Texas, Williams began his music career in the early 1970s, performing at local bars and clubs before signing with JMI Records. His distinctive vocals and poignant songwriting helped establish him as a respected figure in country music. Throughout his career, Williams released over 30 studio albums, including "Don Williams Volume One" (1972) and "The Ties That Bind" (1986). He was particularly successful during the 1970s and 1980s, with hits like "You're My Best Friend," "Somebody Like You," and "(Turn Out the Lights and) Close My Eyes Forever." Williams' music often dealt with themes of love, heartache, and everyday life, earning him a reputation as a storyteller. Don Williams was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
