Donna Summer was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer known as the "Queen of Disco." Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines on December 31, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, she rose to fame with her powerful voice, energetic stage presence, and chart-topping hits like "Love to Love You Baby," "Hot Stuff," and "Bad Girls."
Summer's music career spanned over three decades, with a total of four Grammy Awards and 22 singles that reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her iconic song "I Feel Love" (1977) is considered one of the most influential electronic dance tracks of all time. Her collaborations with Giorgio Moroder, who produced many of her hits, further solidified her status as a disco legend.
After a brief hiatus from music in the 1980s and 1990s, Summer returned to the spotlight in the early 2000s. She continued to perform and record music until her passing on May 17, 2012, at age 63. Her legacy as an iconic singer and songwriter remains, with her music still widely popular today.
