Eric Burdon is a British singer-songwriter and musician best known for his powerful voice and hits with the Animals and War. Born on May 11, 1940, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Burdon began his music career in the late 1950s, performing in various bands before forming the Animals in 1962.
The Animals' music was a blend of rock, blues, and beat, with hits like "House of the Rising Sun" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". Burdon's distinctive growl added an edge to their sound. After the Animals disbanded, he formed War in 1969, which enjoyed success with songs like "Spill the Wine" and "Tobacco Road". His powerful voice and enduring popularity have made him a legendary figure in rock music.
Burdon has continued to perform and record over the years, releasing solo albums and collaborating with other artists. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as a member of the Animals. Despite health issues in recent years, Burdon remains an iconic figure in rock music, his voice and legacy continuing to inspire new generations.
