Gene Chandler is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who has been active in the music industry since the 1960s. Born Eugene Balthazar Chandler on July 6, 1943, in Harvey, Illinois, he began his music career as a member of the doo-wop group The Gaylords before launching a successful solo career.
Chandler is best known for his hit single "Groovy Situation", which reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1967. He has also released several albums, including "Gene Chandler" (1968), "Fool's Paradise" (1970), and "Gene Chandler" (1971). In addition to his solo work, Chandler has collaborated with other artists, such as The Chi-Lites and The Impressions.
A true R&B legend, Gene Chandler continues to perform and record music to this day. His contributions to the genre have earned him a place among the all-time greats of soul and funk. Despite the passing of time, his music remains timeless and continues to be enjoyed by fans around the world.
