Humble Pie was an English rock band formed in 1969 by Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton. The band's name comes from a phrase that Marriott used after he had a dispute with his former group, the Small Faces. "I've been served humble pie," he said, meaning he had to swallow his pride and admit defeat.
The band released several successful albums in the early 1970s, including Town and Country, Self Portrait, and Promise Only Good. They were known for their blues-infused rock sound and Marriott's distinctive vocals. The band's music was a hit with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, and they toured extensively throughout Europe and North America.
In 1975, Frampton left the band to pursue a solo career, and Humble Pie continued as a trio with Marriott, guitarist Dave Clempson, and drummer Jerry Shirley. The band released several more albums before disbanding in the late 1970s. Although they never achieved the same level of success after Frampton's departure, Humble Pie remains a beloved and influential rock band to this day.
