In Flames is a Swedish heavy metal band that was formed in 1993 by guitarist Jesper Strömblad and vocalist Anders Fridén. The band's early sound was characterized by fast-paced, melodic death metal with a strong focus on guitar harmonies and powerful vocal melodies. As the years went on, In Flames evolved their style to incorporate more clean vocals, progressive elements, and atmospheric textures.

In Flames released their debut album, "Lunar Strain", in 1996 to critical acclaim. The band's subsequent albums, such as "The Jester's Race" (1997) and "Whoracle" (1997), solidified their position as one of the leading bands in the melodic death metal genre. With the release of "Clayman" in 2000, In Flames shifted towards a more refined, polished sound that earned them widespread recognition.

Throughout their career, In Flames has undergone several lineup changes, with Fridén being the only constant member besides Strömblad, who left the band in 1999. The band's latest album, "I, The Mask", was released in 2019 and marked a new era of creativity and experimentation for the band.
