Jethro Tull was a British rock band that formed in 1967 and was active until 1984. The band's music style was a unique blend of folk, classical, and rock elements, often featuring complex flute playing by Ian Anderson, the band's lead vocalist and flautist.
Despite their eccentric sound, Jethro Tull had significant commercial success during the 1970s, with several top-10 albums in both the UK and US charts. Their most popular album, "Aqualung," was released in 1971 and has been certified platinum by the RIAA.
The band's music often incorporated elements of mythology, folklore, and literature into their lyrics, which were frequently written by Ian Anderson. Jethro Tull's music also featured intricate instrumental arrangements and soaring vocal melodies, making them a beloved act among fans of progressive rock.
