His most famous piece, "4'33"" (Four minutes, 33 seconds), is a work of silence that requires the performer(s) to remain completely still for four minutes and thirty-three seconds, allowing the ambient noises of the environment to become part of the composition. This groundbreaking piece challenged traditional notions of music-making and continues to inspire artists today.
