Quicksilver Messenger Service was an American psychedelic rock band from San Francisco, California. Formed in 1968 by John Cipollina and Greg Elmore, the group was known for their unique blend of blues-rock and psychedelia, as well as their energetic live performances.
The band's debut album, Quicksilver Messenger Service, was released in 1970 to critical acclaim. The album featured a mix of original compositions and cover songs, including the hit single "What You're Proposing". Quicksilver Messenger Service's music was heavily influenced by blues legends such as Elmore James and Son House, as well as psychedelic rock pioneers like Jimi Hendrix.
Quicksilver Messenger Service continued to release music throughout the 1970s, with their second album Horse (1971) and third album Quicksilver Gold (1972). The band's unique sound and energetic live performances earned them a loyal following on the West Coast of the United States. Despite disbanding in 1974, Quicksilver Messenger Service's music has continued to influence generations of rock musicians.
