Ray Price was an American country music singer and songwriter who was a major star during the 1950s and 1960s. Known for his deep baritone voice and distinctive style, which blended traditional honky-tonk with modern rockabilly influences, Price released over 100 albums and had numerous chart-topping hits throughout his long career.

Born in Perryville, Missouri on January 3, 1926, Price began singing in church choirs and talent shows as a young boy. He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1940s, where he worked as a disc jockey and sang with various local bands before signing with Columbia Records in 1952. His first single, "If You Were Mine," became an instant country music classic, and over the next several years Price went on to release a string of hit singles, including "Crazy Arms" and "Heartaches by the Number."

In addition to his impressive catalog of solo recordings, Price also worked as a producer, helping to launch the careers of artists such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. Throughout his life, Price was known for his generosity and kindness to fellow musicians, earning him widespread respect and admiration within the country music community.
