Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, professionally known as Selena, was an American singer, songwriter, and fashion designer. Born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas, she rose to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s with her unique blend of Tejano music and pop. Known for her powerful vocals and captivating stage presence, Selena was a trailblazer in the Latin music industry. Her debut album "Selena y Los Dinos" (1984) marked the beginning of her successful career, followed by the critically acclaimed albums "Ven Conmigo" (1990) and "Amor Prohibido" (1994). She won numerous awards, including a Grammy nomination for Best Mexican-American Album. Tragically, Selena's life was cut short on March 31, 1995, when she was shot and killed by the president of her fan club.
