Sepultura is a Brazilian heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte, formed in 1984 by vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera and his brother Igor Cavalera. The band's early work was characterized by their blend of thrash metal, death metal, and hardcore punk, which earned them a reputation as one of the most aggressive and intense bands in the genre.

In the late 1990s, Sepultura underwent a significant change with the departure of Max Cavalera and his replacement with singer Derrick Green. This new lineup saw the band exploring different styles and sounds, incorporating elements of groove metal, nu metal, and alternative rock into their music. Despite this shift in direction, Sepultura continued to evolve and push the boundaries of heavy music.

Throughout their career, Sepultura has released 14 studio albums, including the critically acclaimed "Beneath the Remains" and "Arise". The band's music has been praised for its intensity, complexity, and social commentary, with many considering them one of the most influential metal bands of all time.
