The Mars Volta was an American rock band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2001 by Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López. Known for their complex and progressive sound, which blended elements of punk, metal, Latin music, and psychedelia, the band released five studio albums between 2003 and 2012.
Their debut album, "De-Loused in the Comatorium", was a critically acclaimed blend of post-hardcore and progressive rock.
