Venom is an American heavy metal band that formed in 1978 in Los Angeles, California. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist Ronnie James Dio, guitarist Eddie Clarke, bassist Lemmy Kilmister and drummer Tommy Aldridge. Over the years, Venom has undergone several lineup changes, with founder and lead singer Cronos being the only constant member.
Venom is often credited as one of the pioneers of extreme metal, with their early work influencing many other bands in the genre. Their music is characterized by fast-paced rhythms, harsh vocals and occult-themed lyrics. Some of their most popular albums include "Welcome to Hell", "Black Metal" and "Calm Before the Storm".
Venom's influence can be seen in many modern metal bands, including black metal, death metal and thrash metal. They have been praised for their unique sound and energetic live performances.
