The original lineup consisted of four sisters: Janet Jackson's future husband René Elizondo Jr., Denise Richards, Gina Fox, and Tamara Hoffman. With their debut album Vixen, released in 1988, the band gained a significant following among fans of rock music.

Their second album, Rev It Up, was released in 1990 and featured hit singles like "Edge of Heaven" and "Fettish". The band's popularity peaked during this period, with their unique sound and energetic live performances earning them a loyal fan base.
